Why booking ahead with a pet matters

Not every car on the road will take an animal, and finding that out at the kerb with a nervous dog on the lead is no fun. When you book a pet friendly taxi with us, the pet is part of the booking. We note the type and size of animal, whether it travels in a carrier, and how many people are coming. That way the car that arrives is one where the driver has already agreed to carry your pet.

Just mention it on the booking form or when you call 020 3642 6159. A sentence like "one large Labrador, on a lead" or "two cats in hard carriers" is all we need.

The trips people book most

Vet appointments

A lot of our pet journeys go to and from local vets, often at short notice. An unwell animal does not do well on a bus, and you do not want to be juggling a carrier and a lead on a crowded platform. A car straight to the surgery door is calmer for everyone. If you are not sure how long the appointment will take, book the outward trip and call us when you are ready to come home.

Kennels, catteries and pet sitters

Before a holiday, the drop-off at kennels is often on the way to the airport itself. We can combine the two: pick up you and your bags, drop the dog at the kennels, then carry on to Gatwick or Heathrow in the same booking. Ask for a fixed fare that covers the stop.

Days out and new homes

Wimbledon Common, Nonsuch Park between Cheam and Ewell, and Richmond Park are all popular with dog owners who want a change from the local streets. We also carry pets moving house, collecting a new puppy, or travelling to a groomer.

Larger dogs travel more comfortably in an MPV, with more floor space to settle.

How to help your pet travel well

  • Bring a lead for dogs and a secure, closed carrier for cats, rabbits and other small pets.
  • Pop an old towel or blanket in the bag. It protects the seat and gives your pet something familiar.
  • Allow a short walk before a longer journey, especially to an airport or another town.
  • Let the driver know if your dog gets travel sick, so they can drive gently and stop if needed.

Assistance dogs are always welcome. Under the Equality Act 2010, licensed taxi and private hire drivers must carry assistance dogs at no extra charge, unless the driver holds a medical exemption certificate.

Choosing the right vehicle

A small dog or a cat in a carrier fits comfortably in a saloon. Larger dogs, or two dogs with their owners, are better suited to an estate or our 6 seater MPV, where there is more floor space and room to settle. Tell us the breed and we will suggest the best fit. For journeys combining pets with a large family group, the 7 seater taxi gives the most space.

Fares

A pet journey is priced like any other: a fixed fare agreed when you book. If there is anything specific to your animal, the bookings team will confirm it with you before you pay, so there are no surprises at the end of the trip. We arrange pet friendly cars across Motspur Park, New Malden, Wimbledon and Carshalton, and further afield on request.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Short, straight answers. If yours is not here, call us on 020 3642 6159 and we will help.

Do I need to tell you I have a pet when I book?

Yes, please. It means we send a driver who has agreed to carry animals, and the right size of car for your pet.

Will you take large dogs?

Yes, as long as we know in advance. Large breeds usually travel best in an estate or an MPV, where there is more room.

Do cats have to be in a carrier?

For their own safety, cats, rabbits and other small pets should travel in a secure, closed carrier.

Is there a charge for assistance dogs?

No. Assistance dogs travel free, as the law requires for licensed taxi and private hire vehicles.

Can you stop at the kennels on the way to the airport?

Yes. Ask for a fixed fare that includes the kennel stop and we will plan the timings so you still reach your flight comfortably.

We are a Cab Facilitator, connecting the passengers with the licenced Minicab and Taxi service providers in the UK, with best interests of both parties.
