Taxi to Stansted Airport
Stansted lies in Essex, about 55 miles from Motspur Park on the far side of London. Public transport means getting into central London first, crossing to Liverpool Street and catching the Stansted Express. With luggage and an early check-in, that can easily take longer than the drive. A direct car keeps it simple: one pick-up at your door and one drop-off at the terminal.
The route
Most journeys take the M25 clockwise. From Motspur Park the car joins the A3 and the M25 at Wisley, then runs round the eastern side of the orbital, through the Dartford Crossing and up to junction 27, before heading north on the M11 to junction 8 for the airport. Sometimes the anticlockwise direction, past Heathrow and round the north side, is quicker. Your driver checks the traffic before setting off.
| Time of day | Typical journey |
|---|---|
| Overnight (00:00–05:00) | 70–85 min |
| Weekday peaks | 110–140 min |
| Other times | 80–110 min |
The Dartford Crossing charge applies on the clockwise route. Ask whether it is included in your quote.
Early flights from Stansted Cab London
Stansted is a big base for low-cost carriers, with plenty of departures before 7am. For a 6:30 flight you may be leaving Motspur Park at about 03:00. That is exactly when a pre-booked car helps: no trains are running, and the roads are at their quietest. We run 24 hours, so a 3am pick-up is routine for us.
For early budget-airline flights, check bag-drop closing times as well as departure time. Those deadlines are often strict, so plan the pick-up around them.
Fixed fares over a long distance
On a run this long, a meter would be stressful to watch. Every Stansted journey is priced as a fixed fare when you book. Card and cash are both accepted, and if a group is sharing the cost, one person can pay in advance.
Book a taxi to Stansted Airport - Group trips
Hen parties, stag weekends, sports teams and big families all fly out of Stansted. With six or more passengers, one large vehicle is usually better value than two cars. Our 7 seater taxi seats up to eight with room for cabin bags and a fair amount of hold luggage, while the 6 seater taxi suits slightly smaller groups.
Coming back from Stansted
Return trips are tracked like any other airport pick-up. If your flight arrives late in the evening, the driver will already know. Ask for meet and greet if you would like to be met inside the terminal.
Other options
If Stansted feels a long way, compare the drive to Luton or London City, which serve some of the same destinations. Rail travellers heading north can use our King's Cross taxi. We collect from all the local areas we cover, including Colliers Wood and Mitcham.
