An honest word about the train
Motspur Park station has direct trains to Waterloo, calling at Raynes Park, Wimbledon and Clapham Junction. If you are travelling light at a sensible hour, the train is a good option and we would not pretend otherwise.
So why do people still book a Waterloo station taxi? Usually for one of these reasons:
- They have heavy luggage, a pushchair or a large case for a long trip.
- They need to be at Waterloo before the first local train runs.
- A local train has been cancelled and they cannot risk missing a connection.
- They are travelling with someone who finds stairs and crowded platforms difficult.
If any of those apply, a car to the station door is worth it.
Trains from Waterloo
London Waterloo is the busiest station in the country and the terminus for South Western Railway. Long-distance services run to Southampton, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Salisbury and Exeter. For cruise passengers, the train to Southampton is a popular way to reach the cruise terminals, and a car to Waterloo with your cases is an easy first step.
The road route
From Motspur Park, the car usually takes the A3 to Wandsworth and then follows the river through Battersea and Vauxhall to Waterloo. Waterloo is inside the central Congestion Charge zone. Ask whether the charge is in your quote when you book.

Waterloo is a short walk from the Southbank Centre, the National Theatre, the Old Vic and the London Eye. Many evening bookings are for a show or dinner. Book the return trip at the same time and your car will be ready after the curtain comes down. For groups, the 7 seater MPV gets everyone there together.
